Rwanda Gishamwana Island (organically grown)

from 11.75

Gishamwana Island is a secluded coffee island located within Rwanda’s Lake Kivu.  Accessible only by boat, all of the growing, milling and drying happens within the island.  This seclusion provides greater control over the coffee and less of the pests and disease that can affect mainland coffee. The island is privately owned by the founder of COOPAC (an organic coffee co-op), and all the coffee here is organically grown amongst forestry that provides a greater level of shade than what’s typically available for African coffee.

This coffee has a smooth, medium body with mild notes of cranberries, white grape and a sweet finish.
