Costa Rica is known for coffees that are grown at high altitudes in rich volcanic soils. These high altitudes cause the beans to grow slow and result in a harder bean, which allows for a ton of flavor development and can stand up better to many different roast profiles. Costa Rican coffees are known to be clean, consistent, smooth and balanced with a subtle brightness - much like many popular island coffees.

Rio Jorco is totally committed to producing quality coffees, they even won the Cup of Excellence in 2012. Most of their farm space is separated and kept as microlots, so even lots from within the farm can have amazing variation.

We found this coffee to be sweet with notes of brown sugar and maple syrup. It has a clean and smooth body that’s vibrant with notes papaya, plum, and honeydew.
