This coffee was grown by the SOPACDI co-op which includes about 5000 very small family farms, many of which are owned by women. The co-op was founded to improve the lives of its farmers. Because there are so many members, they can share equipment costs, share knowledge and can now transport coffee to markets to be paid money rather than having to only barter it locally for food, clothing and other necessities.
